Getting Legal On You

Will you use your legal skills to help a child in need?

Family Advocates (The Fourth District CASA program) is looking for volunteer attorneys to represent the best interests of children in child protection proceedings. In the 4th Judicial District last year, 710 children end up in the foster care system. These children need an advocate for their best interests. Family Advocates recruits and trains Guardians ad Litem (CASA volunteers) to get to know these children, their caregivers, and then advocate for their best interests in court. Our Guardians do incredibly tough work for literally hundreds of children every year throughout southwest Idaho however, those volunteer guardians can only reach their full potential when they have assistance from counsel like you. We all need family lawyers to help those in need, that’s why this is so important.

Volunteer attorneys represent Guardians ad Litem in court through the life of the case-until the child achieves permanency. They work closely with the Guardians ad Litem and file reports and motions on their behalf. By giving their time and expertise to the cause of child protection, our volunteer attorneys help to ensure that every child will have his or her best interests represented. Each case that our volunteer attorneys take makes a difference in a child’s life.

Family Advocates provides periodic training and support to attorney volunteers, and new volunteers are mentored by more experienced attorneys, thanks to our Attorney Advisory Committee.
