 Job Title: Youth Facilitator

Reports to: Youth Development Supervisor

Wage: $9-$12/hour DOE Part-Time (12-15 hours per week)

General Summary

The Family Advocates Youth Facilitator will possess a strong passion for making a difference in the lives of children and families. A Youth Facilitator will combine this passion with relevant college education or work experience in teaching, child development, child protection, early childhood education, social work or other non-profit incentive-based program delivery and volunteer development experience. A Youth Facilitator will possess leadership skills, self-determination, and a willingness to learn.

Essential Job Functions

Direct Service and Program Support

  • Represent Family Advocates and the Youth Education portion of the Family Strengthening Program in all events and/or programming
  • Support Youth Development Supervisor, volunteers, interns, and service learners
  • Implement curriculum for youth group/classes weekly
  • Attend Family Strengthening Program weekly staff meetings
  • If schedule permits, attend bi-monthly Family Advocates All-Staff meetings
  • Anticipate a minimum of half hour of curriculum preparation, two hours of programming, and half hour of debrief after programming
  • Keep a log of children successes and difficulties to track progress
  • Assist staff with clean up, room set up, and organization before and after Family Strengthening groups to maintain integrity of facilities
  • CPR and First Aid trained or willing to be trained within 60 days of hire
  • Maintain confidentiality and boundaries with participants at all times
  • Any other duties as assigned

Data Management and Administrative Support

  • Distribute, collect and submit evaluations, surveys and/or documents as required
  • Notify Youth Development Supervisor when new policies and procedures are needed

Supervision

  • Agency orientation and Family Strengthening training completed during first month of service
  • Regular supervision and communication during planned workdays
  • Follow state/national law or statute for child protection

Job Criteria

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Able to pass Idaho State Police background check (inclusive of National Sex Offender Registry and Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Registry check)
  • Valid Idaho Identification and dependable transportation
  • Able to work a flexible schedule (including some nights per week)
  • Work efficiently, collaborative, and independently as needed
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, confidentiality, and boundaries
  • Must support and promote the mission and vision of Family Advocates

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development
  • CPR and First Aid certified

Locations and Schedule of programs as of August 2018 (Include a minimum of ½ hour preparation beforehand and one hour cleanup and debrief afterwards)
